In 1993 my friend Kim (mom to two-year old James) and I (mom to two-year old Haily and one on the way – to be named Hannah) decided to set up a tradition with our kids. The idea was to take a week every summer to go camping at the Sugarpine State Park in Lake Tahoe, California. No husbands, no pets, no other friends; just the moms and kids. The adventures we had, the stories we have told to friends and families over the years, now have a place to land. The Happy Camper project will be brought to life by each of us. I’m excited to see what happens, because isn’t it true that the same experience will result in different memory? I hope you come back often to see what happens in the High Sierras.
